Sky messages Baz on Teams

Sky doesn’t touch anything else.

She doesn't move, other than to send a message to Baz, quickly typed with shaking hands:

“Baz, I just opened a CV file and everything froze. The system’s acting weird. Is this… bad?”

There’s no typing bubble.
Not at first.

Then one appears.
Then disappears.
Then Baz is calling. Teams audio. No video. Just his voice.

“Don’t move. Unfortunately you have triggered something.”

Sky stares at the frozen screen.
The email client has crashed.
A notification pings; Mo Taylor is offline... Followed by Valeria... Then Baz himself.

Then Baz speaks again, this time in person, over Sky’s shoulder.

“It’s already moving. We’re isolating systems now.”

Sky reported the issue.

But the delay was long enough for the payload to propagate.

Baz contained it.
But not before Mo’s files were encrypted.

Sky did the right thing, just too late.

Reflection:

Escalation is critical.
But reaction after the click isn’t resilience—it’s damage control.

Sky didn’t fail alone.
The system failed first—by not preparing her.

Sometimes one click is all it takes... and you can’t take it back.
